we all get a leaf

When Lewis' best friend Charles William died, he thought that his other best friend, J.R.R. Tolkien would fill the gap. Lewis felt that since the three friends were all together and shared so much with each other, the change once Williams was dead would result in his getting more of Tolkien. But he found to his shock that when Williams died he had less of Tolkien. Why? Because, he observed,'ill never get of Tolkien the particular kind of laugh that only Charles could get.'Lewis began to realize that no one human could call the entire person into action. What happened when Williams died was that Lewis got less of Tolkien because he lost the part of Tolkien that only Charles Williams could bring out."

view from the top

front view looks down over chattanooga, the left view isn't so interesting..trees, pavement and nice white trailer..if you lean really into the window you glimpse the chapel to the right with the campus spread out beneath it. i like living in an old hotel.

copy and paste!

"1 2 3... KILL"

That was our chant last night around 9:30pm when Battleball began. Halls came together with war paint (mascara) on our faces, ready to KILL the other halls in a huge game of dogeball. We call it "battleball" here though...gets us a little more pumped up. The bagpipes started playing at 6 in preperation for the games 3 hours later. I left work an hour early so I wouldn't miss it and ran to my hall and all the girls were dressed in black! That was our theme. Kyrie was getting ready with some other girls though and when we met her at the gym, well she wasn't in black...she was our PINK mascot. I wished we had all worn PINK after I saw her! The teams each had about 30 or 40 people and on the count of three from the referee, everyone ran towards the middle, trying to grab the 6 balls and then it's crazy running or getting smacked in the face from then on. Really intenese. Really fun. Kyrie, me and two other girls were the last ones left on our team, mostly because we were hiding behind all the guys during the game but we lasted the longest on our team and then 20 seconds later got smacked in the face with a flying ball. adrenaline though must be the reason it didn't hurt. :)

note to chalice

my dear chalice! i think this is first birthday we've spent apart. so i wanted to make a special post from me to you. guess we wont be having a joint party this time around. and wanted to tell you didn't forget; your gift is coming. gonna send it home when brae comes next weekend. can you wait?

dang girl. you're 16.
so incredibly happy you were born.

It says BIRTHDAY.

SHE"S !^! I mean 16!

I know it looks like it says "Happy Chali" but there's a "birthday" in there. I told Kyrie to make it darker. But it sort of makes sense anyway because it's your birthday, Chali, and you're probably happy. So happy birthday, happy chali.

lunch time

--the climax of my day.!! and usually best part. (depending on the people and food)

i actually found something in the great hall that i really love and have eaten it for the last like five meals. whole wheat bread, lettuce, tomatoes, mayonaise, mustard, turkey or ham and honey. cut it in half and it's REALLY good. today i had that sandwich and a slice of pizza, a corndog and a salad. guessing i was hungry... it's dangerous eating when your starving and when theres a whole room full of food at my disposal.

food this weekend should be good. we're all looking forwards to it. gotta step it up for the previewers!!

the camera is my friend.

Sunday afternoon Vincent and Kiko hosted some Covenant students for lunch. (the food was SO good.)

how kilter went down

i had way too much fun putting my costume together. i even rubbed charcoal on my face and neck, which sorta looked like i didn't steady my hand enough when i was putting on my eye shadow. oh dear.

the last shot is of mary anne, tobi and katie who were all marine biologists at the last minute.

finished the night with a visit to clumpies with jared and geanna for ice cream that was way to expensive and really yummy

"we celebrate our sense of eachother..."

We saw Sufjan Stevens on Wednesday night in Atlanta at a HUGE place called "the fox". He played with an orchastra...a orchastra with wings. man... wow. wow, a thousand times.
